Recipe: Hot Chocolate Mix
By the way, a recent study by Cornell University said that hot chocolate is full of antioxidants -- more than red wine or tea. The study said that cocoa's antioxidants are almost two times stronger than red wine, two to three times stronger than green tea, and four to five times stronger than black tea, according to Science Daily.
Antioxidants -- vitamins C and E and beta carotene -- are widely believed to fight cancer, heart disease, and aging. The key is "hot" chocolate. Apparently heat releases more of the antioxidants into the beverage.

I am interested in the recipe for hot chocolate in a jar, using dry butter milk, dry creamer, etc. I would like this for our foster kids to give as gifts.

Hot Chocolate
4 cups instant nonfat dry milk powder
1-1/2 to 2 cups sugar
1 cup powdered non-dairy creamer
2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
1 package chocolate or vanilla instant pudding mix
Measure all of the ingredients into a dry clean bowl. Use a whisk to sort of stir everything together. If the cocoa clumps up, smash the little balls with a fork. When everything is evenly distributed, transfer the Hot Cocoa Mix to a clean coffee can, or a sealed canister.
Use 2 cups of sugar if you are making this for kids. The extra sweetness makes it especially kid-friendly. For grown-ups you could add 1/4 cup of instant coffee for a nice mocha flavor.
To Prepare: Spoon 1/3 cup of the hot cocoa mix into a cup or mug. Add boiling water to the top, stir and serve.

This hot cocoa is chocolaty with a hint of cinnamon. Not only is making your own hot cocoa mix delicious, but it can make a great gift for the holidays. My friend is a chef and he had to make special hot chocolate mixes each year for the hotel attached to the restaurant he worked at. We based this recipe on one of his favorites. This is also quite inexpensive.
